On June 10, 2020, a videoconference was held between representatives of the Embassy of the Republic of Uzbekistan in Japan and Kyushu University on issues of cooperation in the field of science and education.
The event was attended by the Ambassador of the Republic of Uzbekistan in Tokyo Fazilov G.G., Minister-Counselor of the Embassy Jalilov M., head of the international department of the Ministry of Higher and Secondary Special Education of the Republic of Uzbekistan Ergashev Y., representatives of Tashkent State Technical University (TSTU) – vice-rector for international relations Mannanov U.V. and the director of the Uzbek-Japan Innovation Center of Youth Khaltursunov E.B., representatives of Kyushu University, led by Vice-President professor Watanabe Koichiro.
The both sides discussed the current state and prospects for the development of bilateral cooperation in the field of science and education, including the possibilities of organizing joint educational programs.
In particular, Kyushu University, in order to close and mutually beneficial cooperation, proposed to conclude a memorandum of cooperation with TSTU, the National University of Uzbekistan and other specialized universities of Uzbekistan. From Japanese side, it was also proposed to organize a series of online webinars for researchers and young scientists of Uzbekistan to further invite a number of young scientists to short-term internship programs.
Note that a prominent scientist at Kyushu University in the person of Professor Takashi Sasaoka has repeatedly been an honored guest and lecturer at TSTU within the academic weeks in 2017-2019. The leadership of Kyushu University expressed its sincere desire to see as many students from Uzbekistan as possible within its university walls and its readiness to assist in this.
The videoconference was held in a warm and friendly atmosphere.
