Promoting science and technology is a key engine for materializing a bright future for Asia. Therefore, it is vitally important to enhance the exchange of youth in Asian countries and Japan who will play a crucial role in the fields of science and technology. Started by Japan Science and Technology Agency (JST) in 2014, Japan-Asia Youth Exchange Program in Science (named “SAKURA Exchange Program in Science”) aims to invite excellent youth from Asian countries to Japan for a short period to allow them to discover Japan’s state-of-the-art science and technology (S&T) and participate in exchanges with Japanese talent at universities and research institutions for the bilateral transfer of human resources and research. Young participants are expected to become future science leaders in Asia and their networks are also expected to grow. With a grant from the JST, the Takeda Foundation will invite 10 young students from Central Asian countries, the Uzbekistan-Japan Center will recruit and select students for the exchange program.
